Q-tip wick :vapor:
In all seriousness, Q-tips make great wicks. 100% cotton. No dyes. Sterile materials. Peeps have been making wicks with Q-tips for a while. It's, as far as I know, exactly the same as using organic cotton balls.
Actually the first time I've resorted to making a wick out of...
I use the Ekowool hollow as well, does work quite nice. 3mm for me. Of course as I'm typing this I'm looking for an alternate wick because the 3mm is too big to fit into the coil I just wrapped :(
Q-tip to the rescue!
AW IMRs are a solid hitter. I think even APV and vapers who use standard resistance should get high-drain, no reason not to. I use the Panasonic CGR18650CH hybrids, 10 amperes output. Work fantastic.
They also have the NCRs which are 3400mah versus the 2250mah of the CGRs. Can't say how good...
@Pablo, I can't tell you how many coils I built that looked great, performed junky, hang in there, and try-try again!
I also don't dry burn heads, I only dry burn in RDAs. Considering how little wick is required to rebuild, the cost of putting a fresh one in there is likely less than 10cents...
Oh, I'm well aware. I've not attempted 1/16th because I don't trust that I'd even be able to fit it in anything I currently use. Protank heads, definitely not. My mini-RDA, maybe, just maybe.
For lack of a better term that's simply what I was referring to it as. But thanks for clarification...
All in all it takes me around 20 minutes, but you are correct in that I do enjoy fiddling and at least -attempting- to improve my vape experience. Which is really what it comes down to, user control over all the variables. Who can complain with a custom fit?
Don't get me wrong, I've used 2...
You can search YouTube showing many different tutorials. At the very least you'll see how to take the heads apart. Find one with a good view of the coil wrapping. You want those coils to be tight.
I'll try to highlight what I do each time:
~1.) Disassemble head, soak in vodka 1-6 hours. Let air...
There's so many RDAs it's not even funny. Include clones, and you start to wonder what the difference is aside from deck size and quantity of posts.
I'm using a tiny little RDA right now, the Optimus S. It was cheap and it's what I bought. Works well, but little room for working. I can...
If you see this logo on the bottom then it's a genuine Joyetech eGo-C. No logo indicates it could be from any number of other manufacturers.
As a side note, fetalbounce, did you know the Protank heads are rebuildable? I'm about to wrap a micro coil and fit it in one here shortly. The stock ones...
Nice tank!
You can use the eVod/Protank heads. I get mine here. The price is good, you get a 5 pack for $5.79 +S&H. Sun-Vapers is a quality supplier. For your variable voltage I would recommend the 2.2Ω heads but if you plan on lowering your voltage to 3.7 or below for purposes of extended...
Hard to say :) What tank are you using?
Should've mentioned before, depending how you vape can also be a large factor in how long your batteries last. Obviously chain vaping on an eGO for 2 hours straight will drain the battery faster than more moderate usage.
Something ain't right. Just to be safe, I'd store the battery somewhere it won't catch anything on fire should something go wrong. Doubtful, but you never know. Once the light goes off, and some time has passed you can investigate the button to see if it's catching. If not, something is wrong...
Higher voltage = faster drain. If you can, find some decently ohmed devices that aren't quite sub-ohm. 1.2 to 1.5 is the sweet spot. You'll vape at a lower voltage, get the same amount of vapor, and your batteries will last longer between charges.
Vape well, vape often :vapor:
Was going to say something but Baditude covered all the bases! :toast:
You can still build standard resistance coils in your RDA/RBA and get pretty huge clouds. On a freshly charged 18650 @ 6.5W, 1.3Ω micro coil, the TH is so intense I feel the need to lower the wattage to 5W. Plenty of "yummy...
Kanger Protank eVod atomizer heads in 1.8 2.2 and 2.5 ohm for $5.79Sun-Vapers.com
I get mine here. The 2.5Ωs have always performed best for me. Though I may not be purchasing anymore heads until I absolutely need to do so... I've figured out how to build nifty 1.3Ω micro coils in my Protank...
Congrats and welcome to ECF :)
If you ever run into issues, need advice, recommendations, etc... this is the place to come! Vaping isn't always easy, but it's one hell of a ride.
Vape well, vape often!
Done and done!
Same coil, 28GA, 8 wraps. Came out to 1.5Ω, no shorts. Had to tighten the screws down extra hard but it was worth it. Best flavor I've gotten from this juice yet. It's much better on the inhale with a stronger exhale (and TH!). Delayed heating issue gone as well, starts steaming...
