I find it a bit harder to get the ribbon attached to the posts also. I was thinking how easy it would be if each post was a vertical clip of some kind that you could just slip the ribbon into without having to change the axis.- Pete54

The last two sub 1.0Ω coils I've wrapped (ribbon) both showed me the same "1" when initially tested on the same ohm meeter that AG used. Not 1.0 but just 1. I put the Did on my Poldiac and fired it anyways and it worked fine, but when I put the Did back on the ohm meter it read 0.85 and showed...- Pete54

While I was watching AG was trying to make a new coil/setup but kept blowing the coil. He had a hard short somewhere. I didn't stick around too long so maybe there's more to the story.- Pete54

About DiD postal over a hot top coil!
One thing I see that may be causing the hot top coil is that the whole coil seems to be leaning away from the positive post which will result in too great a distance from the top coil to the post which usually results in that top hot spot. fc-2000 porous ceramic wick
That's what they say it is. I've never actually measured it. The D20 is 3.5mm but the Mini is 2.8mm. That was the main selling point for me.- Pete54

The 0.24mm ribbon I'm using is 8.93Ω per foot. I think Tony is using 0.31mm ribbon which is 5.57Ω per foot. Also, the D20 has a wider wick hole than the Gemini so the coils are wider.- Pete54

I just had an "Genesis Epiphany" of my own! I've been wrapping 4/3 coils forever with either 28awg or 0.24mm ribbon kanthal and getting a consistent 1.1Ω. Ken, make sure you are using very hot water. I get my foil lined cup ready with the baking soda, then I microwave a couple of ounces of water in a mug for 45 seconds and pour it in. Well I finally received my ribbon Kanthal today. Made a wick and here are my initial observations. I used Kanthal D Ribbon 0.6*0.1mm / .024*.004 which is supposed to have approximately the same resistance per foot as 30awg Kanthal. Did a 4/3 wrap and ended up with 1.2Ω.
