    What is this Battery? (OrbitronicNCR18650PD)

Correct. Internal resistance is probably the main factor in the manufacturers discharge ratings. Heat is the enemy and resistance creates heat. More internal resistance, more heat, lower discharge rating. Discharging a high resistance cell too fast can send it into thermal runaway due to the...

    What is this Battery? (OrbitronicNCR18650PD)

On the surface, the capacity is impressive. However, all the additional capacity is in the low voltage range that no APV will ever make full use of (<3.3V). It makes a great high power flashlight battery....but there are better choices for APVs, especially for SLR Mechs

    What is this Battery? (OrbitronicNCR18650PD)

Compared to the CGR18650CH @ 7A.... I dont think that they live up to the praise that they are getting. They may do great for mid-power (10-15w) vapers and VV/VW devices, but they fall flat at high loads with a big initial sag (aka: voltage drop). With a .5v drop at 7A...I'd hate to see a...

    Sigelei Mechnical Mods

Those started life as a normal hex nut from Lowes. I have a lathe at work and used it to turn them down to size. The alternate method (as clancy described) of using a power drill and a metal file will work too...just a bit more time consuming.

wire, resistance, and power supply 101 questions

Think we need to get away from the "1 inch of this and 1 inch of that" stuff. Watts is probably the simplest measurement to use. Resistance, voltage, and amperage really dont matter because they are all variable components of the watts equation. 10 watts on 32g will heat quicker than 10 watts...

wire, resistance, and power supply 101 questions

When you start talking about heat....surface area means everything. You cant vape 32 watts on 32g wire....but I do it everyday on 26g. ;)

    Boost circuit math

I wrote a couple of blog posts just for this very topic... Calculating Battery Drain Current Battery Life - Low Resistance, High Resistance, and Efficiency. A lot of the material is already in this thread, but they might help put the puzzle together, or they might not. Either way, getting all...

Sigelei #8 Bottom Cap causing (non)firing problem.

The button unscrews from the pin. It probably has some locktite on it and will need some heat to break the bond. A BiC lighter, mini-torch, or the burner flame of a gas range will do the trick. Doesnt take too much heat.

Provari on an Oscope vs Vamo

Correct, and I wasn't disagreeing with anyone in regards to inferior or superior. Just stating (maybe in too many words) that AccuSet is not the reason that the Provari can hold it's voltage until the end of the battery charge.

Provari on an Oscope vs Vamo

I dont mean to burst any bubbles or anything, but someone who knows the inner workings or a voltage converter might call that creative marketing. ;) I'd venture to say that they won the patent for being the first to adapt the technology to e-cigs, not because it was a groundbreaking discovery...

    More TH with 0mg Juice

Never tried cinnamon, mainly because all I had was poly tanks and ViVi Novas. Now that I'm using a IGO-L dripper exclusively it may be right up my alley. No apology necessary, I've derailed my fair share of threads.....and it makes for an interesting read. :)

    More TH with 0mg Juice

;) wv2win, I think I understand the intentions of your early posts...but it came out all wrong. After all, it's a pretty mundane topic to get riled up over. Thanks anyways.

    More TH with 0mg Juice

If I have learned a single thing (not true really, I've learned tons) on ECF it is that one vape does not fit all. I dont expect a miracle pseudo-nic TH. I just want something of a resemblance, however slight it may be, so I can enjoy the 0-nic vape. Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll give...

If the switch pin is the only thing that you have sanded, there is more to gain. Here is what I've done... Modding the Sigelei #8 for maximum performance.

    1.2ohms @ 3.0V or 3.3ohms @ 5.0V .. same power (7.5W)

Current at the atomizer is not the same as battery drain current. Conservation of Energy...7.5 watts used by the coil means that 7.5 watts must be supplied from the battery. In an ideal circuit, the battery drain current would be the same. Unfortunately, nothing is ideal; there is an...

    Sigelei Mechnical Mods

The question seems to come up quite a bit and all the instructions can easily get lost in the thousands of other posts, so I've put together what I have done to my #8 to maximize it's performance. Modding the Sigelei #8 for maximum performance.

Modding the Sigelei #8 for maximum performance.

This question comes up quite a bit...here's what I do. Materials -400-800 grit sandpaper -Power drill (optional) -Pliers (possibly needed to remove the button and button housing) -Torch/Lighter/Gas range/heat source (same reason as the pliers) First thing I start with is the spring cup. You...

    More TH with 0mg Juice

Guess I'll give PGA a shot.....maybe even some of that stuff in the mason jar that I keep in the toolbox. I'd assume mixing in smaller batches is best to keep the alcohol from evaporating out?
