    aside from electrons rearranging to more favorable positions, rechargeable lithium batteries also degrade their total capacity faster than they leak energy resulting in the voltage increasing over time (talking months here) which in turn would return a false reading of gaining charge.

A proper dry burn is when the glowing coil is the only thing thats left, no sizzling, no smoke/vapor coming off the wick, clean.
