Nicotine less addictive via vaping then smoking?

What we were talking about was would the feeling be the same if you were just wearing a nicotine patch and vaping 0mg juice? I don't think so. You would lose the urges to be vaping. I mean, you would still vape out of habit, but you would lose that sudden satisfaction.

can you list some? because of the top of my head I am thinking: pain relievers, stimulants, sedatives, muscle relaxants, sleeping medication, depressants, anesthetics, opiates, hallucianagens, ... ah wait, antacids.. these are chemicals that neutralize acids in the stomach. I suppose laxatives...

maybe, but these drugs are few and far between. I can't think of any. Maybe contaceptive pills work without CNS stimualtion, but the hormones have substaial effect on it anyway.

Nicotine less addictive via vaping then smoking?

I have stopped smoking for months before using patches, so I know it could work. But I also know that I wouldn't enjoy it as much I enjoy vaping my nicotine.

Well patches can be effective just by themselves. I have used them before. They are just less effective.

@DC2 mentioned it, but the faster, more intense feeling of inhalation should, IMO, have a much higher potential for addiction than any other method of consumption, except for direct injection to the bloodstream. The skin can absorb a lot of things. But it doesn't give the same kind of effect...

Well, its a more immediate and intesne feeling to inhale something than it is to slowly absorb through the skin.

Are these studies you are referring to involving users 'vaping' nicotine? Or is it just skin tests? Because I think that KEY difference that makes for the dependency is inhaling it.

I hope that recreational drugs such as alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine are too mainstream to be owned by Big Pharma. But there are many drugs produced by Big Pharma that contain caffeine as one of the pshycoactive ingredients. Yet caffeine is still avaialble in coffee, soda, energy drinks...

You are saying that a drug has to be synthetically created in a lab? And that anything occuring natually can't be labeled as such? This is silly. Humans have been using drugs since the beginning of time.

Just because it came from a pepper doesn't mean its not a drug. It has a direct effect on the nervous system and is extracted and prescribed as a drug. Many drugs occur naturally, some are illegal. There is another drug that comes from the Coca plant. And another that comes from Poppy seeds.

Just because thats what it is doesn't make it a bad thing. Drugs are used to save many lives, every day. The drug we are talking about improves our lives without destroying our health or making us robbing criminals. Its a safe recreational drug. ETA: capsaicin is a drug. tomatoes are not...

hmmm... i mean any biologic effect other than digestion. Any chemical substance with an effect on the central nevous system is a drug. It can be something taken to alleivate pain, to feel good, to improve cognitive ability, to make you fall asleep, to help you stay awake, etc, etc. I think we...

nobody is twisting definitions. alcohol and cafeine are very well known drugs. they are probably in the definition of the word drug. ETA: here is "drug" taken from wikipedia: Psychoactive drugs are chemical substances that affect the function of the nervous system, altering perception, mood...

Nicotine less addictive via vaping then smoking?

What you are saying is that there is some kind of barrier that is broken by smoking tobacco? Where once you break that barrier, then the nicotine from vaping is useful and works. But if that barrier hasn't yet been torn down, then the nicotine has no addictive properties? I guess I can...

I guess you didn't pick up on the analogy. For example: Nicotine and morphine are both drugs, but with vastly different pshycoactive effects. It is analagous to saying that nicotine and *illegal narcotic* are addictive. One is safe and the other might be dangerously unhealthy. But they are...

caffeine is absolutely a drug. any chemical with a biological effect on humans is a drug. calling it what it is has nothing to do with propaganda.

There are many addictions that do not require medical intervention. Some have been discussed in this thread already. It's a very general word that is not directly related to any medical implication. Aspirin is a drug. And so is *insert illegal narcotic here*. That doesn't change the meaning...

And I just think that, in this instance, there is no reason to be ashamed. Nicotine is addictive, so what? Any adverse effects are trivial and are things that I am happily able to deal with and far worth the continuted inhalation of said nicotine.
