If your ohms are fluctuating between 1.1 and 1.3 you might mistakenly think your kick is finicky.
Same if your coil keeps shorting out on something repeatedly.
"It seems to me the VCT4 would be safe,
but am I missing something?
Do I need to find a higher rated battery?
Am I just over thinking this?"
Yes
Maybe: if you need more power, use more batteries.
No
maybe; but lithium batteries are worth a second thought at least.
ouch! $25 to wrap your coils!!
That's a lot;
on the other hand, if they keep running for months at least, it might not be so bad.
But I sure hope you're rewicking yourself!
1: Yes.
2: Not a good idea.
3: "Or does it depend upon whether or not I'm sub-ohming (going below 1.0 ohm?"
Makes no sense. There isn't really anything as 'sub-ohming'. The description 'sub-ohming' really made a little sense when using mech mods running at 4 volts, in which case 'sub-ohming'...
I think you're not dry burning them enough/properly.
Whatever liquid was last used is also going to be on the inside; so when you dry burn, thatstuff on the inside has to be burnt out before everything can get clean.
Quench them too.
It's not practical;
I think the tcr value would be around 20 (on the evic vtc mini)
But the ohm variations you get from other things going on (themal expansion causeing pressure variation on the centerpin contact, and variations in connectivity at the points where the coil legs contact the...
My rda gets too hot to touch if I chain vape too much, and thats at 14 watts on a 1.5 ohm twisted 28 gauge coil.
Often, the heat on my rda is an indication for me to add some more juice (when the juice runs out the rda gets hotter faster)
Good choice.
You would be better off getting a regulated mod, and you can use the velocity on that.
Either way, lithium batteries should be handled with care.
You might also be able to use a kick module in your mech and get basic protections that way.
1: "is that the reason I cough"
Short answer: yes.
2: "will it go away with time"
No.
If the smok setup makes you cough but the herakles doesn't, you've got some problem with the smok.
Just use a bottle, put about 10% water then fill the rest up with glycerine; or do it the other way around; fill the bottle till it's 90% glycerine then top off the rest with the water.
Then use that as your base liquid and you can add to that a small amount of purchased eliquid; that's what I do.
