I have a tendency to be very minimalist as well. I think a burled wood squonker would be great, but I know how I am. It would sit on my desk and I would actually use the one with the machined finish, I didn't have to worry about screwing up. I also just like the minimalist look. I have one of...
When I'm out and about, I just throw my 14500 mini in my pocket with a spare battery and a Hornet on it and I'm good. Just don't throw that spare battery in the same pocket as your keys. I've shorted 18350's like that.
Looking good. I kinda like the machined "gear" look. I must admit, after the way you shoved all that stuff into that DNA-40 Grand. I was expecting it to be just taller than the battery. :)
I just wash everything in the sink with dish washing soap, a brush, and the water as hot as I can stand it. Then I (sometimes) clean the contacts with rubing alcohol and coat them with noalox.

Yes. It is the same height as the 2.1, but it is about 1/4" narrower and thinner. I'll see if I can find some pic comparing them. I have a Grand and a14500 Mini. I use the Grand most, but use the mini when I need something I can shove in my pants pocket.
That's the one I would pick. I will probably just stick with what I got. I like the size of the metals better, but I do think the resins would look better longer. We'll see.
Kind of like, if you have an overage of old brewer's yeast, you label it as Vegemite and Marmite. "You can eat it. Yeah, that's the ticket. Yeah, put it on sandwiches."
