    Your o-ring might have been pretty compressible, which when you screwed in the pin, kinda pushed it out of shape and allowed it to drip, and I can't really say you screwed it in to "hard" or "far" exactly but definitely it's a cheapie o-ring.

    Too tight could possible make it push down on the insulator to a point that it may "jump" that gap. Only thing I can think of.

    It's delicious but really thick and hard to wick so, requires careful if you're tanking on most things.
