Been difficult to get the airflow just right. I sealed the center tube using a wedge of synthetic wine cork and remade the chamber to rest the cap right above the coil. Tested the whole setup for a leak and couldn't get any draw. Drilled a tiny hole level with the coil using an 18g wire nail in...
Night and day difference, thanks everyone!
I now have 5 wraps at 1.9ohm and it's working much better. I checked it with for continuity and I do have some connection to the wick but it's around 80-90 ohm, is this an issue?
Ok, I'd tighten it up which should allow a couple more loops. I watched Dan's video several times and that is how I'm doing it. I start with 5 wraps around the base of the wick then slide it up. The curve is a bit smaller so this leaves some room at the top and the resistance is somewhere around...
So I completed a second build using the 0-80 rod for the positive post and press fitting the negative using the spring pin supplied in the second co-op. Unfortunately I'm getting similar results to the first kit I put together, so there must be something I'm missing here.
With the cap off the...
The body and cap need to be machined. That's the main reason for the co-ops, the other components that were included may be purchased separately. The dimensions of the body & cap were posted by Dan, so if you want to have your own machined locally you can.
I picked up some 0-80 studs and nuts from McMaster. I found that the studs screw into some small tethlon tubing I had laying around from old feeder mods, which in turn fits perfectly into the bic pen tube. Along with some M1.6 washers I think this is going to be perfect for my pos terminal...
I don't have a butane lighter available so I'm carbonizing(oxidizing?) the wick with the bernzomatic. Checked continuity and no short between the coil/body and wick. Using the kanthol and 400 mesh supplied in the second co-op. My coil is about 2.6 ohms and using a provari with different...
Having a threaded connection would make life much easier with these SGv3s. Jack screws like those used in mounting PC motherboards would make a great post IMO - if they can be found in a usable size.
Hi PK, I received my McMaster-Carr parts today. Would you mind telling me what parts are where in your pre-assembled post image? I have 3 different washers in addition to the nuts and two different screw insulators and it's hard to see in the image which go where. Thanks
I was on hold waiting on new parts. McMaster-Carr boxes just arrived so I'm hoping to start on another kit using the nuts and washers. So far Ive experienced the same issues as many others.
I may need to re-carbonize my wick because I can't seem to find the sweet spot. It's either too close and...
Do you think any of the wire nails on McMaster would fit? They have #18 and #20, no 19. I'm putting in an order for the items Jimbo posted, I'd like to get some nails in that order. I already have the red o-rings, but I'm not too found of my beveling job and I have two more kits to go...
I still have low vapor production with very high TH and what feels like a head buzz from a puff or two. Do you think this could have anything to do with how high the wick is? Maybe lower juice flow or something?
