    You should understand for Yourself exactly what you are using. There are a lot of great threads here for you to read. I would start with battery safety, then coil building, and then battery safety again. Enjoy the learning you have ahead of you!

    Yes unfortunatly QC on comercialy produced coils is not to tight. When I wondered if my meter was off I took it to the BM I bought it from and checked it against a few others. Meter was right coil was higher than labeled. I would not worry about it.
