Don't discredit peoples sensitivity. I have no problems with any vape smells but if I walk in to a house that has a scented candle burning or a glade plug in it drives my nose bat crap. Try unflavored around those sensitive people.
thicker gauge or twisted wire takes more energy to heat up so you can use higher watts and actual y get a cooler vape than 28 ga. just tinker a bit and find what works for you.
also I have found with the plume a center build with the coil as close to the slot as I can get it works best for me.

+1 on setting him up with a tank set up. Build it on the cool side so the flavor of the juice shines. clouds come later. .4 on a dripper is just too hot for most newbs.
