I absolutely agree on density and tails.
And length of the tails is a pretty big thing too I've found, too short and you're dry in 3 pulls and too long and it might as well be a sponge in water... dripping and spitting everywhere.
I'd have to agree. I'm between 0.3 and 0.18 ohms with a 3mm macro coil and even not worrying about wick life, density has been critical to not be harsh or wick badly... no matter the wicking medium.

OK, I get that. I didn't get the density spot on and still don't get the magic "squeak", but then I'm not nailing the density on KGD either (at low sub-ohm).
Anyway... Microcoils!
Hey Mac, thought I would comment quick on longevity and performance of the coils you and I have been discussing... and the highlight of this post.
I have a set of your tensioned micros with the counter-wrapped and center twisted set up (wrapped in hand, screwdriver... under 10 secs without...
I gave away about 4ft of rayon, including to a "sponsored" cloud comp junkie today. He tried to only take about a foot thinking it was expensive and said he rewicked a few times a day...
Then he hit my dripper.
Converted.
I do have to say that I'm not exactly loving my fogger v4.1 though. I got spoiled on the performance and flavor of drippers and even with the fogger at 0.5 ohms it doesn't bring the flavor like I was expecting.
OK, I'll have to track down chowder head and talk to him.
My current fave is the Patriot with dual 3/32" airflow. It just opens up the flavor beautifully and lets it shine. Even better, 85%vg juice by Pinup... amazing.
Just a thought before bed... if you need to hold up a section of wick vertically, why not add a small spiral wrap of non-touching wire?
A turn or two of wire that ONLY touches the wick would make a good anchor and keep it in place nicely I think.
Jeremy, as I've said earlier I have tons of rayon... but ie be very interested in taking a crack at the tensel and ramie if you have a few inches to spare.
Might even have a new style coil build to send you as a thank you...
Still working on a reply to your pm BTW.
