Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

Gonna have to say I doubt it on the vise grips being enough tension alone, but if it works for you, great.

I ran mine down at about 1.2Ω but that's just preference. As long as you're above the bottom resistance limit you will be fine. Basically a spinner-type battery is a regulated vv-adjustable mod. Just keep in mind that lower resistance and/or higher power will eat battery faster.

Hey Tiggs, welcome back. I have a couple small rda's that i have used on a spinner style battery. Totally Wicked e-liquid has one (crap company, pretty good rda for $8) and another I liked was called the Firefly I think. Basically, it's a 14mm rda the deck is really small, so is the stock...

Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

Pepper, Yeah, basically. I loop the wire around the eye bolt and leave a few inches of a tail then clamp the vice grips on gently to twist the tail snug. I've found that will hold up to about 10lbs. Just make sure the wire is short enough that it will be off the ground from the time you...

Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

Hey Pepper, Welcome to the club. I'm currently testing hanging weight with a gizmo for consistent tension with just simple 5lb dumbell weights, here's my weight rig: Depending on the gauge wire you need some pretty extreme tension... but, I start by just holding down snug on the vice grips...

Great idea Mac & Red... try 5 lbs starting at 28ga... just sayin. Love the idea though

After zooming in Aal, I see exactly what you mean and I have to agree that I don't get that when I use tension. Also, unless I'm testing I normally just crank out 10 or so coils and put them up for later. Thanks for the clear visual, I'll start looking for similar things in my test builds.

Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

I agree with wasting wire for testing lol, I do it a lot myself. And yes, when testing and I miss the target my resistance goes through the roof. I'm not positive on why, but another coil with more tension and precision (firing at 80w and above here & around .2-.3Ω) they seem to even out quite...

Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

Yes, my coils jump a few hundredths as I oxidize them and settle rather quickly. Not positive on exactly why, but they do. As far as fighting a non-tensioned coil to make it work as well as a tensioned one... never again. :2c

Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

Quote edited... I agree with Mac totally. From my experiments I found that 28ga wire needs somewhere on the order of 7lbs of strain to make it conform properly. And if the coil is springing back, try taking the coiler 1/3 to 1/2 a turn past your final desired position ( the coil leg will drop...

On the coil yea, on the wicks most likely not. Straight pg does well too. The basic idea works mainly with the coil

Speaking of coils and such, I have some new protank coils and an aerotank that I'd love to get rid of that I have no use for. If anyone is interested, just let me know.

Puff, Basic dryburning means pull the coil head out of the tank (on a protank just leave the coil itself on the base) and gently pulse it. When it stops vaping the juice it's about as clean as you can get. With a coil on a silica wick, try not to let the coil glow or heat up much as you dry...

Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

Just to be clear, I wasn't talking about anyone specifically with reference to the lack of terminology, I was pointing out the fact that this is easily confusing and would greatly benefit from creating a vocabulary that makes talking about specifically the visible things the coil shows. These...

Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

I totally agree, even if it's just used in this thread. Trying to describe very abstract and subjective things is a mess to begin with, that would make it much easier. I'll try to put a few together with images to show what I mean, hopefully we can all work this part of the equation out so we...

Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

I agree totally Turbo, that's the reason that I'm trying to do some experiments that can show that tension does really make a difference. The hard part is trying to explain the results, so I'll ask again for the same thing I'm trying to get a bit of help with from our resident experts here...
