    If the top cap is screwed on too tight, the gasket can deform, which will allow air in, hence removing the negative pressure which keeps the tank from leaking. Read this on many forums and experienced once myself. Also, if it has always leaked, the top gasket may have been installed upside-down.

    I thought I read it would auto switch to VW mode if the coil resistance was > 1 ohm. What was the resistance of that Kanthal coil? From specs: Rated Resistance Range: .05 - 1 ohm (TC mode) .15 - 3.55 ohm (VW mode)
