April, I had some people from Tucson come to my office on Friday. They were complaining about the heat in Texas. I've been to Tucson many times, and it seems just as hot there as Phoenix. Must be the humidity here.
It's 106 here now. I wish this was September 22nd instead of July 22nd.
My favorite time of the year is that first morning (usually in late September) when I walk outside and there's a little chill in the air. It tells me that summer is over and cool weather and football are ahead.
Yes, I survived. I worked from 6am to 2pm yesterday and 7am to 1pm today working in the pasture.
I would have gone longer today but I got into a patch of poison ivy down in the lower pasture today and didn't realize it at first. So I had to quit and come back up to the house and take a cold...
My "gardening" pretty much follows this old rule:
If you fertilize it and water it and it dies, it's a flower.
If you poison it, chop it down and dig it up and it grows back, it's a weed.
Well, my goal is to work until 2:00pm. But the truth is I'll probably be wiped out by noon. This heat is just stupid.
When I retire, I'd love to move to northern New Mexico or northern Arizona (Flagstaff/Sedona area), but my wife won't do it. If we have much more heat like this, I may go...
It was 106 when I got home a little while ago. Now it's 104 with a heat index of 110.
I've got outside work that has to be done this weekend. I'm gonna get up and start by 6:00am and try to be done for the day by 2:00pm.
I spent about 2 hours out in the blazing sun yesterday afternoon fixing a hydraulic problem on my tractor. Then spent the rest of the afternoon mowing my yard. it's about 1.5 acres with lots of trees, beds, fences, etc. to mow and trim around, so it takes forever. I was blasted by the time I...
The worst are the HOA Nazis who have the power of some ridiculous HOA regulation behind them. Or even if there is no express rule or regulation, they want to control the way everybody else lives their lives.
Most of them don't have jobs and have nothing to occupy their time, so they obsess...
The rotors are warped on my F-150 AGAIN and will have to be replaced. I'm sure the Ford shop will want to turn them instead, but I'm not gonna do it. They warp from overheating, so turning them just makes them overheat easier and warp again sooner.
This is the second set of rotors I've gone...
kkay, we got a little rain here late yesterday afternoon, and then a little more today. Not a lot, but better than nothing. And the reprieve from the heat is nice.
I live in the country too, and the people around here are idiots about fireworks. Most often act like they can't afford to pay attention, but they sure have money for fireworks. Sometimes on the 4th it goes on until 2am or later. Two of my three dogs are scared to death of storms and...
Oh, I've had lots of dogs in that time period. Got 3 of them now - all rescue/adoption dogs. A mutt, a Red Heeler and a Great Pyrenees.
The Great Pyrenees is, of course, supposed to be a livestock guardian breed. The neighbors chickens got out this morning and came up to our backyard...
Fresh Gindz is the cleanest burning juice I've ever used. I just clean a Kayfun that had probably had 8 or 9 tankfuls of FG through it, and the coil wasn't gunked up at all.
For several years, my favorite juice was Heavenly Tobacco. FG has pushed HT into 2nd place.
P.S.: Is it ok to talk...
