Well, I have no idea what made me think of this...but i thought, hey, maybe it needs a cleaning and some TLC. So I cleaned the contacts and then applied some stuff, um, I think it's call Noalox. May be I read this in the instructions that came with it? Oh, well. Working much better now... -

Well, I cannot do it that fast yet. Takes me at least 1 minute.:thumbs: But changing these out is easy compared to making a whole new coil, testing the resistance, etc. -

Started reallly, really good. But now its ... well...lousy. Heating slow, only hitting 3.3v on a fresh battery. So, checked the wick - burnt. New wick and back up. Going to keep running with this tonight, shot for a 1.8ohm coil tomorrow. Does this make me a Scientist? I measured it... -

He we go... Used tweasers, worked great. I took a coil I made last night that looked ok and started with that. Came out to only 1.4 ohms, I think it was 28g. Sorry for the lame cell phone pic. -

I used a 3/32 bit. I've tried 32g, 30g, and 28g. I haven't worried about the wraps, just trying to figure out how to get them touching. I might pull the coil out of the RM2 tonight and try the "CATastrophe Technique". I need to get a vice to try the "Treebeard Technique". -

2 cool tips there! I think this might be easier if I get a "third hand" to hold the bit/needle while I wrap and then I could use the pliers to hold one end. Off to the hobby store today! I have been using either drill bit or a 14g blunt needle. Torch the wire and then wrap them completely by... -

So, how do you guys get the wraps on the coil so close? I have tried a couple of times and they are always spread out (not touching). I think i have wrapped too many "standard" coils. -

I use fiberglass pens on all my mod contact points. Works like a dream. I use a few seconds and its clean. It is soft (like a paint brush) so it works great on uneven surfaces. -
