Flavors are real light, more steeping?

Mick, Is this your experiment with the 48 different bottles? Try adding 2 drops per 5ml of concentrated lemon juice to each mix if they are NOT tobacco flavors. Try adding 2 drops per 5ml of vinegar to each mix if they ARE tobacco flavors. That is what I do when I make my juices to start...

    Finetuning my next blend

Tona, Its all about the balance of sweetness and sour. PG,VG and EM are all very sweet and alkaline. VG is a lot sweeter than PG. You need to add more acid (vinegar, citric, malic or tartaric) to your juice and it WILL reduce the sweet flavor. Think of how almost everything we drink is acidic...

    getting things tweaked

You REALLY need to try the vinegar with your tobacco mixes. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much it will improve your mix. It will smooth out the flavor and stabilize the chemical reactions in your juice so it will last longer. Use 2 drops or less per 5ml. Don't worry, you won't taste...

    getting things tweaked

I use either Flavour Art Cowboy or Flavour Art Black Fire flavors for a regular analog taste. I don't really think Virginia tastes like an analog, but that may be just me. This is what I would mix: 5ml base 70%PG/30%VG Cowboy or Black Fire 3 drops Ethyl Maltol dilution (Sweetener) 3 drops...

    Finetuning my next blend

I would suggest some type of vinegar @ 2 drops per 5ml. This will smooth out the flavor and slow the chemical reactions inside your juice. Your juice will taste better for much longer than if you don't have some type of acid in it. At 2 drops per 5ml you won't taste the vinegar. CAUTION: My...

    Vinegar?

Iffy, Try the lemon juice concentrate or malic acid with your fruit flavors. They work better with fruits. They will give your fruit flavors a little zing that they may have been missing. Save the ACV for your tobacco flavors. ACV works best with tobacco flavors. Good luck! Pete

Great job GoodDog! That article explains a lot about what why we should use acids. Thanks, Pete

    Vinegar?

Well, I spent part of the weekend mixing some e-juices using either malic acid or vinegar. Using either of these acids seems to reduce the steeping time considerably. I can't believe how good my tobacco flavors taste after adding a couple of drops of vinegar to them! I used malic acid in my...

    Vinegar?

I don't really think the flavor of vinegar makes much difference as long as you use 2 drops or less per 5ml. You won't taste it at that strength but it will make a HUGE difference to your tobacco flavor. I used the Malt Vinegar in a certain mix to try and achieve a certain effect to a flavor...

    Vinegar?

The Lemon Essential Oil is an oil and probably does not dilute into the PG and VG very well. Essential oils in general are used just for flavorings and not for their acid content. The reason we chose to use concentrated lemon juice is that the main ingredient is citric acid with perhaps some...

    Vinegar?

Xmit you have great observational skills. I agree with everything you have said. When you think about it, almost everything we drink is acidic in some way. Coke, Pepsi, Lemon Aid, fruit juices, coffee, tea, wine and even milk which has a pH of between 6.4 to 6.8 making it slightly acidic. I...

    Vinegar?

I am sampling the 6 tobacco mixes I mixed 4 days ago using 2 drops of Apple Cider Vinegar per 5ml. I can't believe how good they taste! They are all FA flavors and they all turned out to be very full flavored, smooth without any harshness. Usually I would have to let them steep for a week before...

Has anyone else went through a tastebud crisis?

Yes! A taste bud crisis for sure! I quit the analogs 5 1/2 months ago. I think my taste buds have finally returned, and all kinds of food tastes great! I'm going to have to start getting off my .... or I'm going to be really fat soon! Pete

    Vinegar?

Tona and Xmit, thanks for joining the discussion! You guys have some great ideas! Let's keep this simple. It is all about the FLAVOR! The end result of our mixing and steeping should result in a well rounded juice flavor that lasts for a long time. To accomplish the "lasts for a long time" our...

    Vinegar?

Thanks for everybody's help! We are learning a lot aren't we?:toast: Tona, I too see parallels in wine making and e-juice making. I agree that it is all about the balance. I actually wrote something to that effect somewhere farther back in the thread. Wine makers actually use malic and...

    Let the Steeping begin.

Micksf, Here's a few things you might want to consider once you sample your mixes. Tobacco flavors take the longest steeping time. They sometimes take a week of steeping before they lose their chemically/perfumery taste. Tobacco flavors alone will sometimes taste harsh with a very sharp...

    Vinegar?

Okay...An update. Both acids as crystals have zero smell. Even the dilutions don't have a noticeable smell. What I have done so far: 1/4 teaspoon of each acid into 10ml of PG. Shake...examine...still some crystals...shake...examine...still some crystals...repeat (You get the idea?)...
