    My carts I usually start with 15-20 drops and then add about 10 more. I have not used random brands of carts though so it may just be my manufacturer but I get 30 drops used cart and 34 new. I think I did read once that most recommend no more then 15 drops though.

    If your using a kr808 batt then just buy prefilled carts and throw away if you don't want to deal with juice and tissue. Otherwise refill with the method that works best for you. You did say you were refilling and it was working but then you tried the condom method... why? If its not broke stop...
