If you solder directly to the battery you want to isolate the ends of the battery if you're using a metal case. A large shrink wrap, electrical tape, etc, Then secure it in place with either hot glue or 3M Red Outdoor Double sided tape....so it can;t move.

Update on the voltage reading: Several of us have noted that the display reads the battery voltage slightly higher than the actual battery voltage when read directly from the battery with a meter. The good news its the battery is charging to the correct level but the readout is slightly high...
