Now Nate where is the fun in setup and forget it?
I have been using the DID for a year now (of course they multiplied to 8), they look brand new still, they have taken a beating and still shine like new. The build quality is superb.... I wish they had a bigger tank though...perhaps the D22 will...
Way to go winners.
Again Jim thank you for your generosity.
My town is recovering from tornado damage ....thankfully there were no lives lost in Ennis Texas.
You can pull the cable wick also and dry burn. I have mine wrapped with just a couple of layers of mesh, enough to cover the top 2/3 of the wick. The bottom is just the rope. I believe some are having success oxidizing the wick. I did try just wrapping the coil straight on the wick only to find...
I bought mine on amazon. I am a prime member so everything ships 2 days. I saw the galvanized stuff in home depot and the hardware store. The finish on the galvanized is very different to the plain ss.
I am using the steel wick in my DIDs and it is working extremely well. I am using the 3/32th size with approx 2 wraps of 500 mesh at the top only. I have to say that the steel has outstanding performance.
I have had a short term experience like this with my first setup. Every few puffs I would suck on the drip tip while covering the hole. Seems to have sorted itself out now. I opened mine up last night to check the wick and coil. All was good and juicy in there. So I filled her up and went on my way.
Depending on the cap size. Big cap gets a 1.5mm hole.
Smaller caps get a 1.2 mm hole
Then tiny caps like the mini DID I have left stock. My 1 exception is my cobra...it has a tiny hole stock and a really tight draw....I have a love hate relationship with my cobra....but gotta say the flavor is...
Dan you should feel flattered. As they say mimicking is the greatest form of flattery.
It is crazy how lacking in scruples these Chinese factories are. Is there nothing they won't clone.
Do they have Petsmart in china.?
I am using the 1mm ekowool one long piece down the channels and a second short piece under the coil. I think the ekowool has more longevity than regular silica. Note that the ekowool is not the same size as regular silica. The 1mm is more like 2.5mm
I totally agree with this. I only buy cartos and cheap units as 'pay it forward' starter kits.
I have many 'premium' rebuildables but you will always see me carrying a DID, it is so reliable, I can throw it in my pocket or purse ant not have to worry abut leaks, also using the ribbon kanthal has...
You can run the negative wire along the edge of the ceramic I use 32 awg nickel wire. I put it in the tiny gap between the ceramic and housing and kind of pull it snug at the bottom. I the leave about 1/4" longer and just bend this to sit at the bottom of the housing. When you screw the hosing...
I use some strong tweezers. I make an X with the wires....pinch the base of the V with my thumb nail. Make 4 tight twists with the tweezers, snip off the extras and the wrap the NR wire over my join for 2 or 3 turns. Since I started doing it this way I haven't had a join come undone. I also use...
