    Fiddle with the bottom coil. I find that the ground can cause problems. Tinker with that wire and see if the rest jump into action.

    Your wick is a long way from your positive post. Add a couple of washers between the nuts to shorten the distance. Or gently push the coil and wick closer and then tighten the positive lead. What gauge kanthal are you using?

    :vapor:And gals Yes you could add mesh to the bottom. Not sure how easy it would be to hold it on there. The slightly shorter wick shouldn't be a problem as the ceramic does need some tilting.
