I dont tinker at all myself (at least not yet) my first tank was protank3 from kanger.. Most people like nautilus much better. Venturing into carto tanks now so have not tried the other clearomizers out there
Personally i have not used any of those but have read lots of good posts here about the nautilus... Good luck on your quest of finding a good tank.. Even if you cant post there yet you might want to go check out the clearomizer and tank sections of the forum... Maybe you can find answer from...

If you have the vv version (dial in the bottom) make sure it not turned too high. You also might want to check coils and see if they got burned already. Usually burned taste means that the coils are not getting enough e juice. You might also try gentle slow drags to make sure the wicks have time...
