    the juice will darken more with steeping the more nic you have in it. That's one difference I've noticed.

    i mix my test batches with no nic, and add the nic in later batches... Haven't seen any difference in flavor and I've made as high as 24mg out of recipes I steeped at 0 nic originally.

    Not enough juice getting to the wick. Try turning the silicone grommet inside the tank upside down. Its also possible you used too much cotton. It will swell when liquid is added, too much and it will choke off wicking. If the first doesn't work try wicking with a tad less cotton. Not sure...
