Too tight. It only needs to be finger snug. In fact, the whole tank only needs to be snug, not tightened too much. Disassemble the tank, clean it out, and reassemble gently. Turn your coil until snug and vape on.
Also, non-resistance wire is not needed to rebuild protank coils at all.
You can also use a small bent piece of Kanthal to hook the wick and pull it through the coil. That is what I do with cotton (and yes, I did it with ekowool too) to get it through the coil.
Love it ever since I put the ACV on...even more since I started making my own coils. The MiniPT3's were also perfect for me right after I cleaned them straight from the box. Before the ACV though, it was way too airy and whistled like a stream train.
I use VW all the time on the VV Ver 3.0 and yes, it does adjust voltage automatically for you. If you go to the voltage setting after you have set the wattage, all you are doing is going into voltage mode. It won't show you how much the voltage is at the wattage you've set. You will need a meter...
30 or 32ga Kanthal seems to be the most popular for rebuilding Protank coils. I've heard of people using 29 or 28, but allegedly the 28 is a very tight fit.
I am using 30ga myself and love it. They are such an improvement.
Going to work on that vertical chimney coil again tonight, my last two...
pros? Flavor flavor flavor.
Cons? You actually have to spend time to rebuild them, but I view that as a challenge.
I did buy Ekowool when I got myself set up to rebuild, but I prefer working with cotton. Can't say much to the taste difference between Ekowool and cotton as I never got as far as...
Buying the airflow control valve is worth the $5 or so you will spend. The PT3 is what I use most on my VV, and it is great...especially once you start building coils for it.
Not a tension build as I have seen discussed here. What I have to work with turned out to not lend itself to exactly the same technique. But I do pull a bit on the coil as I wrap it, and I am getting progressively tighter coils with less gap. It's a work in progress. I have set aside several of...
I don't know if I would trust a surgeon with dirty fingernails. :D
Seriously though, i hope he puts up more pics, I was trying this yesterday and was able to build the coil, but the vapor production and flavor just wasn't there for me... Maybe too much cotton, will have to try it again. First...
A PT 2 coil is no more difficult than a PT3 head. The difficulty with 30ga Kanthal is not too bad unless you have issues with dexterity in your hands. Even with what might be the start of arthritis in mine, I've had success so far.
