Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

Mac, I think you single handed keep this thread alive. Keep up the good work. I don't make tensioned micro coils any more, but whatever works for you and the other TMC folks, right?

    Geekvape Tsunami 24 RDA Tank

Windowed Tsunami 24 incoming, I am going to be putting it on a Dripbox 160. Update when it arrives. It was a close thing between the Tsunami 24 and the Nalu, but Geekvape has been good to me lately. They sent a replacement for the entire deck on my Griffin when one of the grubs stripped out...

Building for 3 years, still don't understand how to wick!?

In my experience, the tighter the wick, if it is simply shoved through the coil, the worse it wicks. Same for too little. The only wick I want a tight fit on is a Scottish roll. And with those, I want them pretty much as tight with the coil as possible.

Smok TFV4 Micro R2 RBA Coil/wire info Help?

I don't know what is wrong with these Chinese wire companies. That isn't tiger wire. It is a juggernaut but without the requisite multiple core. Basically a Clapton with flat wire for the wrap. Probably vapes fine, but still. Tiger wire is flat twisted WITH the round wire.

    Staggered Fused Guage

Getting good shots with a camera on a phone can be a challenge. With my Samsung S6, I do a 3x zoom, and start backing the phone away until auto focus can kick in. I get some decent shots. Just an example -

    RDA question about wismec industructable

Keep wicks wet to avoid dry hits, replace the wick when the coil needs cleaning. Could last a couple days, could be a few weeks, depends on how dirty your juice is. Sweet juices tend to gunk more.

    Stainless steel coils

I like SS wire especially for Clapton cores. Heats fast, but you have to take into account that it has a much lower resistance than Kanthal. I rarely use TC anymore, which is another plus in favor of SS, you can use it in power mode too.

Trying to build on the Protank 4 Pro Rba

So take the mandrels included in your Coil Master kit, see which on you can fit in the area for the coil on the RBA deck and wrap that one. Probably 2mm, 2.5mm or 3mm. A lot of this is personal preference, I prefer to go big, as most the coils I make in all my attys are 3mm, but sometimes a...

Trying to build on the Protank 4 Pro Rba

Ignore leg length in Steam Engine, set the ID to whatever you are wrapping your coil around. What are planning on using and what is it's size?

    Steam Engine Never Agrees

There ya go. That is probably a big reason why. When you mount the coil, do you leave it on the machine screw until you have your leads secured? I used to do that with Ni200 when I did TC

    Steam Engine Never Agrees

I did some playing around with the ID, and according to Steam engine, the ID to get those numbers would be about 5.2mm. Even playing with the coil spacing between the default .01mm up to 2mm doesn't effect it that much.

Are you positive the machine screw is 3mm? Like "measured with calipers" sure?

    Post your current build

Of course, then there is what the Chinese vendors try to call tiger wire, which is more like a single core juggernaut. So basically flat wrapped around a single core. Not twisted with the round wire like a proper tiger wire.

Clapton Build for KBOX Mini with Griffin 25 RTA on low wattage

At 40W or so, the coil isn't heating well. There are a couple of options without raising wattage. Go to a smaller Clapton. 28/34 or so, change materials to Nichrome or SS for the core (if you are adventurous) or try a lower resistance clapton at the wire sizes you are at now. Ultimately, you...

    The workstation

The first thing that came to mind was "those threads are toast" No need to clamp down the head while working on it. The only time I use a vise is for making more complex coils. The vise I do use also has removable rubber pieces on the jaws, so if I need to clamp something with a thread, I...
