Looks like the nichrome is threaded through the stainless tubing which creates a rigid coil? Seems this would take a lot more power to heat up and hold residual heat longer after the button is released.
Love stainless but it is still giving me fits! Get it right and there is nothing better. The other half of the time results in constant fiddling and lackluster performance. Silica is the goto wick and working. With both cotton and hemp hoping to come across a better compromise.
Thanks guys. Guess the option of renewing coils just has me spoiled.
BJ...... great pix. Even after the dry burn pic that coil looks to be much thicker than the original kanthal wire. That is the point when I find there to be too much insulation and choose to just rewrap the coil to keep top...
It makes me happy that I have not used a Chinese atomizer/cartomizer in nearly 4 weeks. However regardless of wick material I can't get over a couple days use without cleaning or replacing the coil. Compared to near a week from a Boge 2.0ohm carto. DIY coils just seem to gunk up and loose...
Not sure I would want to drip liquid directly onto a PCB. Any thoughts yet on sealing the coil away from the rest of the components? Can't wait to see how this turns out.
Check local community college or trade schools. A basic Metalworking class would be a good place to start. You will at a minimum learn the steps that it takes to turn a piece of raw material into something usable. Even if you have no intention of machining your own parts this insight will at...
Waterproof bottom weighted so it always floats upright. 18650 powered with 3ml genesis tank atty. At last a Marine Grade PV for the outdoorsman. Just have to design the one way check valves for air intake and drip tip to keep water out of the juice........diluted nic juice is just as bad as a...
Turned the parts myself. Fortunate to have a lathe/mill combo in the shop. Just an amateur here too; only about the a month into building my own mods and atties. Chose the dumbbell design just to avoid dealing with running wires through the juice tank.
The madvapes vv is a good cheap way to get your feet wet get a good working mod and start understanding the electronics. I would start there so you have a good foundation to be able to get where you want to be.
The cr123 batteries I have seen have all been 3v. If they have a protection circuit they are the same size as a 16340. I have 16340 batteries in both 3v and 3.7v. Please be extremely aware of what you have and the charger you use for them. A 3.7 v battery in a 3v charger simply won't charge. A...
Guess I just got lucky on my first one. Put my fill hole for 18ga needle right beside the wick and reasoned it would be small enough not to leak. Seems to serve as a good vent and allows condensate to drain back to the resivoir. As for air intake I have two smaller holes 180deg apart from...
To anyone who got the mcmaster braided stuff......if you are having trouble unbraiding switch to the other end of the rope. Once you have separated a half inch or so unraveling the rest is a simple matter of pulling lightly on each strand in succession. It is put together in a slipknot fashion...
Looking at wire and see square profile 18ga silver. Would this make a better connection as the corners would tend to offer "bite" for the kanthal to wrap around?
