Battery life & bottle size for sure, but also the flexibility to use higher voltage batteries, which isn't recommended for the mini. I know some write about successfully using the mini with different batteries, but I'm too timid to try anything Rob doesn't say is OK. My battery life matches... -

Mine freezes up if the filter gets too dirty. This past weekend, though, it wanted freon. A lot of freon, we'd ignored it's warning freeze-ups last week and it stopped even trying to cool. Hope yours just needs a little not-very-expensive attention. -

I'd venture to say that most of us were just as overwhelmed in the beginning stages as you are! The thing is, you really don't have to go off the deep end all at once. Good grief, NO, it's not just you! I cruised along using "set" pvs for nearly two years, because they were keeping me off cigs. I learned how to keep them going and such, but didn't need to deal with the foreign language of electronics. I bless the early-adopters who got into the mod world way... -
