Just went through the images that are up (again) and the "pits" are pretty obvious in some (adds to the pattern, I think), while others look very close-grained and smooth. Maybe the luck of where the cut falls or is the wood different to begin with? -

It's heavier, too, isn't that what Gil's said? Right now, I'm not planning on trying for any of the 18490s, it would be nice to cut back on trips to the charger but I'm really happy with the mini sizes. Something that spends so much time in hand has to be comfortable or it won't get used...
