    Could be a sensitivity to VG or PG. I would recommend experimenting with two different juices one mostly PG and another VG. Some say VG will give them a heavy chest and PG is supposed to be harsher on the throat. Edit: what they said^^

    The most affordable solution for him would be an 'itaste mvp' it has 510 and ego style threading for tanks or cartos and a large battery 2600mah. If you do a search you'll find most people love them, myself included. Edit: just re-read, the mvp is a box style battery. If that isn't acceptable...

    Cotton question

    I had some medical bandage type cotton, the kind that comes in a big role, that was left over from an accident about ten years ago. It had a strong taste, like a laundry mat smells. After boiling the taste is gone. YMMV

    Indigo Vapor. SO GOOD!

    I was at a local B&M last week, picked up a 15ml bottle of Oohrah! on a whim. Got home and loaded up clearomizer and thought it was pretty good. Reminded me of a Swisher Sweet. I got my first dripper the other day and started dripping this stuff and I'm in tobacco vape heaven.:D
