Here's a song I recently wrote... I am re recording it. I changed the lyrics to smooth out phrasing and shortened it a tad... about a couple hawks I was watching around our jobsite...

Been a long time since I checked in. How has everyone been? Just wanted to drop a link and ask a favour... https://talentcast.nl/vote.php I am in a song of the week competition. It's my first recorded original. Winner gets radio airtime. I get 10 plays this week but 40 more if I win. No...
I have another solo gig this weekend, though I just invited a bass player to join me.... with a bass player I get to do lead solos and have to play less songs.....
I joined a new band recently. I am playing guitar (lead and rhythm), midi guitar for keyboard stuff, mandolin, harmonica... seems...
I had a local guitarist come over for a practice yesterday. wanted to join me on a gig. I asked him to pick 10 songs he can sing (I have to do the instrument solos, so I figure we might as well split up lead vocals since that is his main area).... he couldn't list 10 songs he knew the words to...
Well the solo stuff is just different. can't do much for lead solos as they just sound thin by themselves to me... so I have to sing way more songs... it is certainly a mental workout as my brain really has trouble retaining all the song lyrics. I can't do the band songs I did as they are kind...
I actually started a half hour early and played a half hour late... I had to dig into stuff I hadn't played much and I wanted to play different instruments than I normally play to change things up... and yes I was using a vocal harmonizer... a comment from someone during the song early nearly...
A couple Uke vids from this last saturdays gig. I started the night on the Uke to play some quiet music for dinner guests and graduated to other instruments and such later as the night went on... I played for 4 hrs so yes I had some music cheat sheets. My brain just can't retain that many words...
Here's the finished product. The pics don't give the depth especially the sides. The figuring is almost 3D... and the neck and headstock back turned out amazing
Peter gabriel uses speakers in his cove and microphones at different interval distances for some reverb...
here's a fun cliff claven factoid. fleetwood mac used a drumstick on a kleenex box in a bathroom on don't say that you love me (it was one of the songs off tusk anyway)
I've been talking about doing this a while. it is my favourite instrument and had decent bark. it should open up the lower tones more now with all that crap off. should add more room for expression playing softer. I am taking the mando with me and will get the sides scraped tonight. If I get...
cheers. seemed a shame to cover up such nice wood. the back, neck and sides are tiger maple so should be nice. just going to shellac when done and should open up the sound. want a satin or semi gloss finish. getting tired of shiny crap that shows fingerprints. I really like that godin beside it
don't remember if I posted this or not but was asked to do a recording to show off the mandocello... I did it at work for fun... mandocello, mandola and mandolin with some harmonica... not the kind of music usually played on these instruments but I have no idea what to play on mandocello...
I got my mandocello finally. having a lot of fun with it. I was working on an original this morning and will be recording this week sometime. I have rehearsals tomorrow with Chantelle as we are doing another gig together... I have music charted and printed this time hehe. not going to be lost...
I took my recorder to work and did a little recording. I did a track, went for a patrol etc etc... mandocello, mandola and mandolin with a small harp part... old rush song done bluegrassy... first takes on each...I dig this mandocello thing. think rush played faster than normal hehe...
