I have to get some actual pictures but got a new toy for my birthday for myself... an electric octave mandocello... what a good score. been playing for about 2 hrs Loving this thing. it's like having a bass and a guitar in one instrument. with the octave pairs on the low strings it is full...
I am going to be looking at a local luthier. I am going to be doing some music with his fiance' (she has an amazing voice). I just saw pics of his latest builds. very nice work. I see a mandocello in the near future, even if I was talking to my music store about ordering me in an eastman. if I...
That last one was an interesting gig. I got introduced. came up, plugged in the mandolin and she said I am going to do an original... I had never even heard it lol. no friggin clue. so just some tremolo trill fills and that was about it for me haha. and we are going to do this song, but I play...
I have been gigging a lot lately and for fun I have pulled out a ukelele for a couple songs... amazing what a hit that instrument is. I just had a $30 soprano no pick up thing (bought 2 so my woman could learn to play and I learned to help... whoda thunk it)..
I had ordered in an epihone les...
I ended up grabbing a bud, Paul Barrell to come play with me. Awesome guy.
I did the same pub again last night. We got started late... like 9pm. not our fault. Bartender told the bass player I invited (also plays acoustic guitar) there was no music so he went home mad. The PA was being used by...
I love yes... and I am doing the gig solo. too hard getting rehearsals together with someone unavailable fri and sat nights. if ya cant rehearse on gig nights, how are you going to gig?
I get to do opening night at the new club, in the small room. Got the call last night. I can either do it solo or duo. Haven't heard back from my duo partner yet but we will see. That is this saturday. December my band will play the big room... well the band I am in is better wording...
my old...
I have been getting all kinds of gig offers lately. I got a call for a wedding yesterday and a club in Chilliwack has a new booking person (I happen to know her hehe) 2 Stages/rooms. One is for bands and the other is acoustic type duos and such... well I have 2 bands now and am doing a duo with...
Well, I have been gigging a lot with different people. Been front man. I auditioned for a new band a couple weeks back and had first rehearsal sunday. Awesome musicians. Band is called Whiskey Priest. I am splitting lead vocals with the one guitar player, bass player sings a couple as well. I...
I don't use the autotune on the vlt. I think of cher (do you believe...) when I hear it. too fake. I want to know if I am singing out of tune, just like missing notes on your instrument.... then you need to practice and get it.
I think of the harmonizer as an effect like for harmonies other...
I am using my voicelive touch for single work and even filling in higher harmonies or octaves above my voice. vlt is much the same except it mounts on the mic stand so I can change stuff. It is a very realistic harmony
we have too much fun. it is so impromptu. just call out songs. I have cheat sheets for some cuz I never get a chance to play some of this stuff. the owners are genuinely nice people and they feed us well..
I did get pulled over by the police last sunday. got a 3 day suspension on my license for...
Here's a couple vids from the last open mic I hosted. I ended up being the bass player for most of the day this time
side note. I am now lead vocalist for a band called Whiskey Priest. We start rehearsals this sunday. great musicians
oh I agree but tonal quality from wood is more for acoustic instruments. electrics are affected more by pickups... sure you can get sustain with denser woods.
I built an octave mandolin from a "kit". it was a big job that I sped through and learned how hard it is to do bindings and purflings...
