Help with cotton wicks
Cjax, it sounds like your wick was still damp originally. I doubt a good wringing out & overnight air dry was enough. Dampness kills a cotton vape & I imagine could if damp enough slightly weaken the tank strength[flavors/nic]. I now use no need to treat usp rolled cotton, but I started cotton...- MISTer E

Kemosabe, when my wicks are not oxidized enough & do a soft short out on the mesh, they most often do so where the wire first touches(on top or bottom & not ever for me in the middle). Anybody else do this?
I only use Kanthal (but the following seems to apply to both it & nichrome). I do not burn treat my resistance wire until the coil is wound set in place. As I comprehend it, once fire/heat is applied to the wire, a shell of chromium oxide forms & if disturbed after fire I imagine it forms...- MISTer E

What wire came with my DUD?
I still had the little baggy of coil wire from my Griffin & it seems nichrome(non magnetic). Seems around 32ish AWG. Man that stuffs stiff!, compared to A1 Kanthal. Here is the image of how it looked when I got it, if it helps.(:unsure:) -

silversx I do try not let the cotton go dry(& do not think I ever have done so). Cotton gets very soppy. Cotton looses some of the vapor production & tastes change, as it becomes less soppy, making it hard to actually burn the wick. Even for this airhead ----> IMO The cotton toxicity BS is...- MISTer E

On the second dream I used what I call a "Spin E" coil(wrapped on a pin & a external wick). Correct, a "Spin E" coil has the wick cotton wrapped around 50 or more percent of the coil(too much drowns the coil). The coil wire(especially once seasoned & coated) acts a wick itself & thus wicks...- MISTer E
