Learning to splice is still a good thing to know how to do for some builders. If you are one whom wants to learn how. The first tutorial in THIS THREAD shows one way to splice to wire together in images(or do a YT search for a penelope build vid).
I suck @ that way of doing a splice, so I made...
Kemosabe, it looked more than good ;), in the image you linked to I simply have "getting old" eyesight & am due to see an optometrist. Sometimes I quench to quicken the mesh process, but I am pretty sure spraintz is spot on with his info that it mainly hardens the steel. My bad "lay it away for...
Here is a video @ my crude quickly put together cotton variation test.
best seen full screen HD
It was a cold test on raw cotton & barely oxidized wire. I mostly just wanted to see a close up of what would happen in the tube. It seems a pop creates a channel & that channel is likely the...
Nice set up & pix nahuelarg86 one day I shall try bamboo.
Endor excellent break down, I like when a set up is consistently repeatable for m too :)
I dittoE that, this thread is trove of Vivi & vapor related knowledge. Thanks to all whom teach & show as well as those whom watch & learn...
Cjax, it sounds like your wick was still damp originally. I doubt a good wringing out & overnight air dry was enough. Dampness kills a cotton vape & I imagine could if damp enough slightly weaken the tank strength[flavors/nic]. I now use no need to treat usp rolled cotton, but I started cotton...
Kemosabe, when my wicks are not oxidized enough & do a soft short out on the mesh, they most often do so where the wire first touches(on top or bottom & not ever for me in the middle). I can tell by seeing the actual mesh (& not just the dry burning wire) glow when it happens. that may or may...
xMackx, I have wanted to drill the wick hole for fatty slivers of cotton as well, but I need to spend some time googling & pondering a bit more. I hope to find a stainless grommet type thingy with top hat type shoulder (maybe threaded or press fit). A 4mm drill hole for cotton with a fitting...
Gdeal , everytime I think of your tiny tubing air hole mod it sends my mind off into clouds (of vapor). The image you just posted is slick in its crisp wet look & the blue really adds nicely to the image. One day I do want to do some tubular mods but...
This sent m to fun:p [not...
xMackx always nice to see cotton on a Geni ;)
As far as air holes here is a video of my new dual inline air hole mod for my mini DID clones.
I prefer the small stock Griffin air hole more than the large one. Sadly, the small air hole is too tight (even puffed light) & it hits one spot...
latexyankee, I look @ RA's as if they were cars. Most people drive economical run of the mill rides & do not work on them (blu ego carto types). Some sport expensive new cars & do little or no work on them = GG Zen with a Genisis(wrap coil & roll mesh) or a Vivi nova(replace a screw in coil...
I prefer the small stock Griffin air hole more than the large one. Sadly, the small air hole is too tight (even puffed light) & it hits one spot overly hot on the wick. The large hole caps are too drafty for m unless huffed hard. I took my large air hole griffin replacement cap & DID(pun...
First I did not intend to induce fear. I suggest people with questions about silica safety read & post Q to THIS THREAD about the subject. I was simply getting defensive with silversx. I did so because I equated silversx comment to a "my poo don't stink" type remark. I was not going to let...
I only use Kanthal (but the following seems to apply to both it & nichrome). I do not burn treat my resistance wire until the coil is wound set in place. As I comprehend it, once fire/heat is applied to the wire, a shell of chromium oxide forms & if disturbed after fire I imagine it forms...
xMackx neat little ceramic vial mod they're selling. I like as much metal & as little plastic as possible, on my atomizers. I hope to keep my Vivi Novas going, but its hard with all of the current metal geni's. If my big block ceramic works out, I plan on getting one of the [no window] aluminum...
I still had the little baggy of coil wire from my Griffin & it seems nichrome(non magnetic). Seems around 32ish AWG. Man that stuffs stiff!, compared to A1 Kanthal.
Here is the image of how it looked when I got it, if it helps.()
silversx I do try not let the cotton go dry(& do not think I ever have done so). Cotton gets very soppy. Cotton looses some of the vapor production & tastes change, as it becomes less soppy, making it hard to actually burn the wick. Even for this airhead ---->
IMO The cotton toxicity BS is...
On the second dream I used what I call a "Spin E" coil(wrapped on a pin & a external wick). Correct, a "Spin E" coil has the wick cotton wrapped around 50 or more percent of the coil(too much drowns the coil). The coil wire(especially once seasoned & coated) acts a wick itself & thus wicks...
(continuation of last post)
Now for a "Spin " style coil mod!
I used two silver grommets squashed down & shaped into washers with the magnetic stock screws.
Hy!, that Spin is spin :glare:
Fatty hotti for m tonight! "Fat E" has a nice ring.
Let me just tuck it in a bit:p
