Cotton Wicking Kanger Coils ... Need some advice

Gotta echo everyone else with the rebuilding your own coils. You have to buy an ohm checker if your device doesn't have one, but You'll still end up saving money in the long run. I shoot for 2.2ohms on my builds, and then rewick them with cotton. After a couple tank fulls, you pull the cotton...

    Kanger EVOD

I also forgot to mention, the 5 pack of coils that comes with your evod starter kit, Plus there's a coil in each of the two tanks. That's 7 coils to vape on. That's at least a months worth of vaping right there. If you still want piece of mind, buy a 5 pack of coils to take with you. Then when...

    Kanger EVOD

Do what LisaR said, and just bring a 5pack of extra coils on vacation with you. Weather you get 32 gauge kanthal or 30 gauge depends on what kind of rebuild you do. Search for protank evod coil rebuild on youtube and watch several videos. You'll see there are two methods to rebuild. One is just...

    Evod getting old

I bought 3 of these, and they're great. Not a huge fan of the metal drip tip at first, but I got used to it. The coils and even the base are interchangeable with the evod tanks, and they're dirt cheap. I got blue, because that's what color my evod batteries and tanks are, and the blue doesn't...

Kanger II Pro-Tank flooding and gurgling - FIXED!

There is somewhat a fine line between too much cotton (burnt cotton taste), and not enough cotton (flooding/gurgling).

    EVOD Starter Kit

My wife and I both got evod starter kits about a month ago, for $34.99 from Vape Dojo. We ordered them on a recomendation from someone in this forum. My wife then talked her two sisters and one co-worker into buying them. All but one of my wife's sisters have been off the stinkies since getting...

    Protank MicroCoil Discussion!!

All of the replies since I last posted were good reading. I am proud to say, that of all the coils I built between a week and a week and a half ago, all but one are still in service. I've re-wicked some of them like 4 times! I know that I have to get some more on standby, and between the two...

    Protank MicroCoil Discussion!!

One other question, is there a thread or video that explains the saran wrap method of threading braided wick? I've heard it mentioned but couldn't find a detailed explanation of the process. I'd be interested to try it out on the sample of ekowool I bought.

What works better for you all, clipping or the twist method for trimming the wire ends? I've been clipping so far, and now that I read your explanation of hangers, I suspect I scrapped like two coils earlier in the week that probably just needed the hangers eliminated. Oh well, live and learn, I...

protank mini 2 and 3 question

I haven't tried it, but I saw some posts, and pics somewhere where people were rebuilding pt3 heads with single coils, and just using extra wicking for the longer slot. I wonder if it's best to put the extra wicks under or over the coil?

    Protank MicroCoil Discussion!!

I gotta say, I did like using the 5/64 for a wrap, but the problem is that size drill bit doesn't fit low enough in the notch to seat the coil where it should be. Using a 1/16" bit to seat, I had to be really careful not to deform the terminations of the coil. Yes, the 5/64"id coil would fit...

    Protank MicroCoil Discussion!!

Thanks for the replies! With the 31awg, I wound on a 5/64" drill bit. That wouldn't fit into the notch of the head, so to mount the coil, I carefully used a 1/16" bit. I only had a 3' sample of the 31awg wire, which I ordered just to see if rebuilding was for me. After my initial success, I...

Finally did it....... At least I hoped I did

I tried 31awg first, and a 7 wrap on a 5/64 gave me about 2.7Ω for a micro coil. It worked really well, and heated up really fast. 10wraps now with 30awg on a .07 screwdriver gives me 2.3 to 2.4Ω. I kind of liked the performance of the coils I made with the 31awg. The coil is a lot narrower...

    Protank MicroCoil Discussion!!

After getting several good coils made with like 7 or 8 wraps of 31awg kanthal (I only had 3 feet), I made a few with 30awg Kanthal, 10 wraps. The resistance is the same, but now I get flooding and leaking. I tried stuffing with different amounts of cotton, but can't seem to get them to not...

    Protank MicroCoil Discussion!!

I'm so much newer to this than all you "wily veterans". One question. If you wind extra wraps, then unwrap the ends to use just the best wraps in the middle, what's the best way to go about straightening out the leads that were once wrapped around the mandrel? I've done it, and used my...

I should add that I'm extremely intoxicated, (just tried Miller Fortune for the 1st time... 6.9%abv) when typing the above, so I hope what I typed made sense, if you know what I mean.

    Protank MicroCoil Discussion!!

I'd say stay between 2.0 to 2.5Ω range. Probaly around 2.2, especially if you are on a fixed voltage device where 3.7v @ 2.2Ω will give you the best wattage for vapor production, etc. If you don't have some sort of VV or VW mod, I'd just shoot for around the 2.2Ω range. anything between 2.2 and...

    Cotton vs cotton yarn?

I don't have a hard time finding the right sized tuff of cotton to use. I just used regular cotton balls, boiled twice, dried out, then put in a zip-lock bag. I think I slightly overstuffed one coil. never understuffed one. what I look at is this... When you put the chimney onto an empty head...
