    BTW, the Darwin does work as a passthru. If you let it go completely flat, you'll have to wait for 10-15 minutes to let it get a minimal charge started to run in passthru "mode"..

    The regulator they sell only steps down (linear regulator). They're now selling a VV kit based on it, using 2 14500 batts. I've built a few AA-boxes based on it, and it works nicely - runs very nearly all day between charges.
