Happy to see others enjoying these, too. I was hoping I wasn't the only one. I wonder if I didn't just get a crap coil. I soaked it, set it, and every single drag without fail was burnt silica. Nothing but burnt silica and hotspots all over the wire. I suppose better advice would be to test... -

You're definitely right on this. I'm experimenting a little bit before bed to try to find the "sweet spot" you're talking about. I was putting the coil close to the squonk hole in the hopes it'd help not dry the wick out, but moving it up a bit and making sure the wick touches the base has... -

Alright, A7 review take two. I got a new coil built finally, been running it all day with 5 wraps of 32g kanthal around a cotton yarn wick at 9 watts kicked. Note that before this, I've never used a rebuildable atty before, so you guys with the shiny, fancy ones don't get to judge me :P +... -

Verdict, possibly with pictures: The good news: you could theoretically adjust the center post out far enough to make contact with the bottom of a mini. It would be on the barest ends of the last couple threads, though, and probably be a huge risk as far as damaging either your A7 or causing a... -

I'll probably try to make do with it until I can source some supplies for building new coils. Are there B&M stores that sell the kanthal wire? It looks like wicking isn't too hard to pick up, at least. Gotta go find a torch, too, I suppose. Something tells me I'm gonna screw this up a couple...
