Since you already have a Provari, an excellent device, I'd suggest trying a cheap rebuildable dripping atomizer (RDA), but it does sound like a REO would be a good fit for you.

I use a Provari, also, but it sounds like a REO might be a better fit for you. Imagine a bottle underneath a dripper and all you've got to do is squeeze and you've got juice in your dripper. Squeezing instead of dripping, but the same vape. Google REO dripper...

As to battery life, ultimately the most satisfying solution is having multiple batteries and not worrying about it.
I used to take the resistance and add 2.2 to find a decent voltage. 1.8 ohms at 4.0 volts, 2.5 ohms at 4.7 volts, etc... That was with a Joyetech eGo Twist.
Nowadays I find myself thinking more in terms of watts, pushing whatever is on my Provari to its maximum 15 watts and backing it down...
