Anodized aluminum will hold up better to normal wear and tear as it has a harder surface than common SS and the lighter weight is a major plus. The days of heavy is good is best left to the 1950s.
It's kinda funny how too heavy (for no good reason) and shiny is somehow quality. That the T+ has gone to a shorter pos post (it was already too short), smaller and harder yet to handle post nuts (they needed to go larger, not smaller) and a smaller wick hole should also factor into 'quality'...

A protected battery is always the safest choice. A dead short will cause the PCM to quickly trip (like a fuse), for 18650s at ~6A. The amount a heat a 'safer chemistry' battery will generate with a dead short is amazing melting cases and wires.
