    A little PG/VG Purity Confusion..

You wouldn't happen to have the published requirements that we are looking for, would you?

    A little PG/VG Purity Confusion..

Not really funny. some of the potential contaminants can make you severely ill in a matter of days. That's what DEG did and why it's tested for now. But, the Jatropha issue is probably just a heads up from the FDA. I guess it is more likely to happen in other countries than here in the...

    A little PG/VG Purity Confusion..

TTK, all my info is third hand. I do not have access to the current USP Glycerin monographs (previous ones available through Chinese web sites), or the current test and purity requirements for Food Grade Glycerin per the current FCC monograph. Aside from companies labeling their product to...

Jatropha contamination of glycerin. An issue for vapors?

I went off topic in another thread, so maybe this would be a better place for the experts to explain the potential for Jatropha oil to make it into our Vegetable Glycerin. Or is the FDA just trying to scare us? http://www.fda.gov/downloads/ForIndustry/GuidanceDocuments/UCM310867.pdf...

    A little PG/VG Purity Confusion..

Hope I don't get another infarction for stirring up the status-quo :) BTW: since this is a month old issue, the ECF search engine must not be working. I can't find Jatropha anywhere else in the forum. Maybe none of our Glycerin comes from contaminated Bio-Diesel Glycerin. Whew, I was worried.

You wouldn't use 'Play Sand' to build with, would you? at least not USED play sand :) Rocketman says: don't eat the yellow snow.

Would the 'toxins' come through if the PG was made from bio-diesel Glycerin?

    A little PG/VG Purity Confusion..

Purity includes unknown contaminants Correction: Purity only includes KNOWN contaminants. What are the PURITY requirements of Food Grade that makes it something you don't want to vape? Does a vendor stating "meets the requirements of USP grade" make you feel better? If you were to buy USP...

    A little PG/VG Purity Confusion..

I wouldn't necessarily trust AMAZON ads. Search for NOW glycerin on Amazon and see how many Amazon vendors claim it's USP. Per contact with NOW products, it is Food Grade, manufactured in accordance with FDA GMP, from Vegetable sources and analyzed for purity/contaminants. They don't claim...

WOW !!! The FDA page was there last night. how about this, but it's not directly from the FDA FDA wants industry to watch for glycerin from Jatropha - FiercePharma Manufacturing I'll search some more. Edit, Might have been a browser issue. IS THIS THERE...

    A little PG/VG Purity Confusion..

Rocketman says? :) The USP has a set of requirements. The FDC has a set of requirements. The EP has a set of requirements. Can a product meet all at the same time? Is there really such a thing as USP Vegetable Glycerin? or is it Glycerin USP, Vegetable? (and maybe even Kosher) and just what...

Here's an interesting item. Possible contamination of Glycerin processed as a bio-diesel by-product. Seems they are still working on a good test method. The toxic qualities can pass through the purification. Palm oil sourced doesn't seem to be involved...

    What VG?

It was MADE FROM palm oil. You pretty much are limited to Glycerin MADE FROM Soy bean oil, corn oil, Quaker State Motor oil, or Palm Oil. I understand than Glycerin made from pig squeezins is being eliminated from the biodiesel supply chain with most being vegetable sourced. Unless you...

    Help Please

You are correct Joe. But thinning a PG based juice will make it very thin, so most don't do it. They just put up with the throat irritation or go to VG. Even though I don't like using 'Drops' as a measurement unit, 2 drops per ml is close to 10%. With small batches (1ml) you pretty much...

    Help Please

High VG mixes absorb water when you inhale it. VG absorbs water like crazy. Maybe a few percent of distilled water would 'feed' the VG before it got into your mouth and reduce the drying.

    Nicotine Comparisons

Chemicals direct (not the cheapest) sells gallons. They have posted their COA and Kosher certification (OU is sort of acceptable). Glycerin manufacturing plants have been going though a bunch of "contract agreements" with the big companies making 'source agreements' for raw stock...
