Hummingbird feeders are the only thing I put out. I know the cats can't catch hummers! (neighbors' cats or feral, mine are not threat to hummers since they don't go outside) I've always felt like any other feeders would be like setting a trap for the birds- Catmom

What really amazes me is that all the houses I grew up in had basements. We lived on Long Island, NY. The house I lived in from 10 to 18 years old was half a mile from the ocean. The basement wasn't even wet. You'd think being that close to the ocean the soil would be too sandy, and the...- Catmom

Yes, they did. I guess it depends on the area. I know basements in Florida are rare due to the sandy soil. The house my parents live in, in Maine, is over 200 years old and it has a basement. Oh my goodness CES! I won't complain about having to herd everyone into the bedroom in the basement anymore! I wish they could make it a law that all houses must have basements. At least ones in areas with high tornado activity.- Catmom
