yes it will mess up the coils and yes you want it to stick out a bit your basically turning the center post that the coil is connected too spin the screw and watch the hole until you see it line up again re build your coil and enjoy -

I had to adjust the center post slightly with a flathead screwdriver after that it's been great -

My RM2 air hole goes past the coil just enough to make it off center. Would filing it down to spin almost one more full rotation be ok? or would that be taking off too much? -
