Well the cap feels like aluminum so I won't say the threads are buttery smooth, but I've had no taking it on and off - no issue starting the thread. I can't imagine I'll ever damage them so I'm not concerned. The 510 thread are like butter though - they feel better than the 40 or 50 to me... -

I want to keep the small portability too, but don't rebuild, so I got the kit and am going to throw Triton II claptons in the Melo III mini. Then for a 3mil option, I have some Cleitos ready to go. If I like the mini, I'll grab the 4ml Melo III and try some coils choices in it. -
