Hmm... If the stopper and mouth of the bottle are both dry, it should hold with no problem. You could always use a regular cork, but that may not make as airtight of a seal...

Anyhow, we have just made one animal where the mouth was the actual mouthpiece. It was a wolf. It was actually pretty tough, but it came out nicely.

Some animals are easier to create in glass than others, primarily depending on the shape of the head and the coloration. A pug is pretty easy to do, a poodle or st. bernard might be a little tougher...
