    also double check to make sure the wick is not touching the bottom of the tank or sticking up above level with the positive post. Both of those will turn juice black super fast.

    I used The isopropyl alcohol to clean everything with. I took the tank off and cleaned everything down the center where the spring is and re-assembled it. I cleaned the area that will come into contact with juice later with hot distilled water and vodka.
