What you say is true. I hadn't thought about it much, but it makes sense. If the magnet slipped, and made a direct short between the + and - poles of the battery, the spring wouldn't even be in the circuit. -

Rob himself never approved of the use of magnets. It's a dangerous practice, especially with REO door magnets, which are too small in diameter. They can and do slide, and if there's even a slight tear or nick in the insulator, the magnet can create a short. I don't like the idea of 'At least the... -

I use the soft bottles from REOs too. They're a a little tricky to set up, at first. But they're lots cheaper than aftermarket silicone bottles, and I like the squonk pressure of them. IMO, silicone bottles are too soft. -

I really don't think the time of mechanical mods, and particularly mechanical squonkers is past. Judging from the number of 3D printed mechanical squonkers out there, I believe the mech market is alive and well. There are just more suppliers in the game now. FB is loaded with them. -

I've never seen a Supervein in person. But I have a Hammertone Grand and a P67. It's one of my favorite finishes. supervein looks to me sorta like Hammertone on steroids. More contrasting blacks and grays. -

You can't tell by looking. The spring button looks no different. Probably the best way would be to ask when it was purchased new. The only non spring button P67s were the first release. Any subsequent releases had the spring added. -
