I recently wrote an article about this exact topic. Since you mentioned that you're looking at the eGo, I think you'll really enjoy my take on the perfect e-cig for "noobs". Check it out at What Is The Best E-Cig? | eCigology. Hopefully this will help with your decision!
You're lucky that it only took you two weeks to discover this. It took me like 2 months! What's strange is how few people actually realize that this is the reason the taste happens. I used to get a ton of advice about how my carts were too dry, my atty was "dying", etc. and it just isn't true...
If you abuse your 510 atty so much that it always has that burnt flavor, don't trash it just yet. You can remove the wick and the thing will be good as new. I put together a pretty handy guide to help with that: Getting The Nasty Burnt Taste Out of Your Atomizer | eCigology
In my experience you can clean the atty all you want, but you won't get cinnabomb out of there. Just dedicate that atty to cinnabomb and remember that for the future! :)
This is a problem caused by having burnt your wick inside of your atomizer. While unfortunate, not all hope is lost. Check out my in-depth article here on how to bring that bad boy back to life: Getting The Nasty Burnt Taste Out of Your Atomizer | eCigology

I've experimented with the debridged and dewicked atty on a 510 and if you want a similar effect with a bit more consistency, you can take the wick out, but leave the bridge intact. That way it has a steadier flow of juice to the heating coil but you don't get a funky wick (burnt up or nasty...
If you're looking for some good information on 510's and eGo's in general, you might want to take a look at our site. It's got some good info for someone like yourself who is trying to piece this crazy e-cig thing together. I had a lot of the same types of questions when I first started...
Just want to throw a shout out to Vaporkings. Since I've placed my first order through them, I haven't gone to any other supplier for my 510 accessories. Just got done ordering another batch of LR cartomizers, and wish more people knew about this great company.
Their shipping options are...
Thanks Lynda. I'm learning that the thing about writing a good review is picking a product that you TRULY appreciate. That is definitely the case with Don's Casablanca. I can't stop vaping this stuff along with the Hunters blend. Delicious.
