When the next book came out, I read again from book 1 because its pretty well impossible to pick back up because of the constant referencing of minutia. Then I got smart. I am now back on book 3...

    I can see Lord of the Rings causing that kind of headdesking. I think the only thing that saved it from being my OH GOD thing is that I could remember how much I loved a book on tape of The Hobbit I'd listened to a million times as a kid so kept just going 'It will be worth it!'
