If this "friend" is no longer a licensed contractor, should he be touching anything in your house?? I don't want to see the insurance company mess you over for repairs because of this guy.
I really hope hubby listens to the voice of reason that you are, and gets a bona-fide, licensed...
I was so afraid this was going to happen. My heart goes out to you, Shari. This contractor "friend" of your DH's is no friend at all. It might be best to cut your losses now, and show this guy the door (and be sure it doesn't hit him in the .... on the way out, or he might sue you).
Let ins...
Sorry, Karen. I did reread the post, and you're correct, it's only been a recent thing. And in your particular case, I'm really glad that the mold wasn't extensive and you were able to get all of it before it spread.
All I was trying to say that it can be dangerous if all of it isn't caught...
But then again, some of the fear is well-founded. There have been cases of mold damage in houses in this country where the buyers were never told they were buying a former junk-house (one that was used to grow certain herbs, if you catch my drift). The mold that was found was particularly...
But, Karen, it seems to me that the contractor "friend" that's involved with Shari and her DH is trying to gloss things over and make out like it's no big deal, when in fact it is, or can become one down the road. That's not a good thing to deal with.
Shari's right to proceed with caution on...
I'm glad you proceeding with caution on this, Shari. I just wish your DH would do the same. Getting a proper assessment of the amount of and type of mold now, while everything is pretty much exposed, will save you a visit from those nice young men in the HAZMAT suits coming in and condemning...
That's a good article, Alisa. Thanks for sharing this. I know Shari need all the information she can get her hands on right now to keep her and her DH safe.
Maybe you and your DH should read this:

Small town life is great, huh? Don't have to worry about coal dirt, though. I'm living in a farming town. The closest mine to me is a salt mine, about 25 minutes west of me.
I don't find anything wrong with living in a one-light town. There's no crime to speak of, housing is affordable, and many of the amenities are here--grocery store, gas station, a couple of good restaurants. The only time I really need my car for is to shop for clothes, and visit with family.
Would you be speaking about plantain, perhaps? I've never tried any myself, but I understand it's quite good. there's a ton of recipes using it on the internet. All you would need to do is google it.
Edit: I found some recipes here:

Maybe I'm one of the fortunate ones that benefits from that rationale. I know that the local supermarket has an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables that are somewhat reasonably priced 12 months of the year. I never see any overripe produce on the shelves. But then again, I only go to the...
Actually, Karen, from what I've seen of both diet plans, they can be put together quite nicely. Both diets concentrate on whole grains (breads and pasta), fruit and vegetables, and a reasonable amount of protein (up to 6 ounces of meat, fish and poultry) per day.
The problem lies in having...
Don't let them blow you off, Aik! You need care, and you need it now! There is NO way you should have to live with the pain you're feeling until Feb 4. Maybe a trip to the ER might be the best thing for you right now, because it might get you the referral you need quickly. I really hope you...
I understand the stairs thing all too well myself. In the house that I lived in with my DH, it had two flights of stairs that I had to climb several times a day. It's a challenge when knees are sore from arthritis. In the apartment building I live in now, there are stairs, too, but I only...
I found this:

Could an appointment with a rheumatologist help you out, Aik?
And yes, Shari, I realize that moving at this moment in time would be quite a burden for Aik to bear. But...
