Not sure, I'm not a plumber. All I know is we (brewers) use a mixture of red-silicone & black Buna-N rings for various things. Keg Lube is made for both & works fantastic. It doesn't have a problem penetrating into the oil-resistant Buna-N rings. It's what I've had & been using for many years. -

Very different stuff. This isn't silicone based or a coating. It's oil based that gets down into the ring. Coatings can break down into whatever they're in contact with over time, especially with low-pH solutions such as beer or e-liquid. -
