oh wow, I took the kick out of my XL because I hated the battery life of the 18490. Got the 1.5 vapage atty today and it's PERFECT with the 18650 alone. YAY, an all day vape with no fiddling and fussing!- durgidog

you can kick the vmod xl, I used thin gauge copper that makes contact with both the kick spring and the battery ground wire: There's another more complicated way to do it and still use an 18650: V MOD XL with kick & 18650 - YouTube I haven't been real happy with the life I'm getting on the... -
