    The reason is very simple, there is no 18500 batt with 12+ A maximum discearge. If you look on the data sheet of the DNA 30 this si the only safe way to protect people using the wrong batts.

    Lets not forget that inside of the base are only mecanical contacts (no wire) and the best way to build it and keep it small is the actual. But may I ask why it will be better if you will have the side wick?
